Day Three (By John)

We woke up pretty early and I spent an hour washing up three days worth of stuff, seriously I miss having a dishwasher some times. Gave me a lot of time to think though and in the midst of the soapy water and dirty dishes I couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed, Jen has given up so much to be with me. She is not only the best wife ever but also the nicest person I have ever had the fortune to meet, kind and considerate even when it's clear she has a million and one other things on her mind.

Took Jen on the magical bus that took us to ASDA for a well overdue grocery restock, it's a good thing Jen is here or I might die. I've only shopped once properly for myself since I moved in here in October so there wasn't much food in the apartment at all. Jen fixed this, Jen knew what we needed, Jen had a plan and I was quite happy to push the trolley round the store while we picked thigs out. We struggled to get it all back and my arms are at least 3 inches longer than they were when I woke up this morning..

The afternoon was filled with THREE HOURS of walking round Ikea. It wasn't anyone's fault and I did have fun but that shop is so overwhelming the way it's set out and the colours are limited. We did find some good things though, a desk for the bedroom, two side tables, some plates and bowls, three lamps, some bed covers, candles and some other bits and pieces. It's amazing how the total cost rises so quickly.

Jen made meatballs for dinner and they were fantastic, I demolished my serving in good time and thank God we have some left over for tomorrow! I cant' wait to eat them again. I'm looking around the flat and all I can see is mess but we'll tackle this tomorrow, it's been a long day and I think I owe my wife a foot massage for being so awesome.

Edit in word from Jen: His wife had gone to read for a bit, and ended up being dead asleep, snoring loudly by the time he opened the door to offer up that massage.

Day Two

After a long day one, where we went to bed at 4 in the afternoon and woke up at midnight, puttered around for a few hours before passing out for another six, we were mildly productive. After a breakfast of slightly burnt toast and disgusting instant coffee, John made me walk 8 miles (Slight exaggeration, probably.) to go into a magical store that had tons of things. It was a bit like a mini target with no clothes or food.

Got ourselves some measuring cups, some kitchen things, a power converter so my Mixer could be plugged in. Air freshner, garbage can, and a clock. Because I have no cell phone and thus no concept of time. We still need to get an alarm clock for the bedroom, because again, no concept of time.

Went around to his Parent's house for dinner, which involved more walking. And while I was content to sit on their couch watching tv all night to avoid walking back, the slave driver of a husband I have, made me.
Its times like that, where there is frost on the cars and I'm walking, that I long for my car- and its only been 2 days! Wont be long until I'm demanding to drive, I'm guessing.

Long day ahead of us, grocery shopping and some cleaning. Then at four his Mom is coming around to take us to Ikea where hopefully I will find some cheap furniture that can and will be delivered. Fingers crossed on that one.

My biggest problem at the moment, other than the walking everywhere, the jet lag or the fact that I'm missing Bones is that they have instant coffee. And John, the dear, bought a massive container of it. And I said "No new coffee maker until its all gone" so now I'm drinking this coffee that tastes like nothing delicious and it's making Jen sad faced.

And with this folks, I should probably put a few more tings away. Clothes are unpacked, books shelved bt ings like purses need a hiding spot as well as all my little knick knacks. So Until later, I miss you, America.

First day

I decided to set up a new blog to talk about my adventures in England, and I have every intention of updating lots of times with pictures and things because yes, I'm going to be wandering around with a camera taking pictures and things. My parents dropped John and I off at the airport fairly early which gave me some time to smoke a few cigarettes before checking in and going through secuirity. But we wandered a bit, and got some sandwiches and water before sitting down at our gate.
We ended up waiting 2 hours and then the boarding was delayed because they were cleaning the plane. John and I got seats together. And then the lovely flight attendant brought me wine. And diet coke. And then some more wine.
So lets do a quick recap- Saturday night was the going away party where I managed a whopping 3 hours of sleep before getting up to finish packing, cleaning and sorting my things out. On the plane I took some Nyquil and 3 glasses of wine and managed to sleep... a whole hours. One hour. John was snoring next to me, content and thrilled with his napping abilities, and I got about an hour. And I woke him up a few times, because I couldn't sleep or read or focus on anything because the nyquil was killing me. And yet I was unable to sleep. It made for a long flight, with terrible turbulance. The kind where I thought I was going to break John's fingers from gripping them because I figured we were going to die.

We finally landed, and I was so happy to be off the plane that I didn't even mind standing and waiting 10 minutes for the man to verify my visa was legit, which obviously it was. Plus after we got through, we waited 20 seconds before we had all of our luggage. After that it was right outside with our 7suitcases for a cigarette. It had been a long time coming, and I was a bit shocked still about everything.

We got in line to wait for a taxi, which only took another 5 minutes or so, but then we got to the apartment and it is amazing. Seriously, tomorrow I will post up pictures of what it looks like, but at the moment I can't be bothered to and plus it's like Jen exploded all over the floor. I started unpacking in a crazy frenzy because if I sat down I was going to fall asleep.

We headed out and bought our bed, matress and a new laptop. Very productive for four hours of sleep in nearly three days. We got home and was going to set up the laptop and instead I fell asleep and was done for for the next 8 hours. And now you are caught up, and thus concludes day one for the time being.
