Because things just never go according to plan...

Do they?
Probably not. Anywho, two days ago John and I were getting ready to head out to the magical land of Job recruitment places so yours truly could become employed and stop sitting around playing the sims. Granted I happen to like the sims, I like being able to bake a lot more!
So we're getting ready and John's showering and I'm sitting around being bored waiting when there is a knock on the door. Which confused me, but I figured answering it was a good start.

Yup. Some old lady from downstairs was there asking if our bathroom was flooded. Told her no, told John about it, resumed doing nothing. She came back, to double check. We ended up taking the wood panel that is in front of the tub out and low and behold! A leak! Horrah!

Should probably mention that the other day John opened the cupboard carefully (Dishes were stacked up drying in front of it) And the whole cabinet door fell off in his hand! Oh how I chuckled, but not really.

So now we have a busted cabinet, leaking bath and mold growning all over.

We called the Estate agents to inform them we need a plumber and they said "We don't manage the estate, we just rent it." Uhm...whuuuut?

So John wrote an epic email to the lady in Japan informing her of the shower, Cabinet, Counters and the time when he didn't have hot water for three weeks which means he had no heating and still had to pay rent even though he didn't live here.

Awesome eh?

Yeah, John managed to fix the tub leak with a screw driver. Cabinet and counters aren't that big of a deal. Although she did say that the people from before were supposed to leave behind oil to wipe them down with and we were supposed to be informed on how to do that.

Yeah, that didn't happen.

So another disaster was adverted, and now we can resume our normal programming of being poor and lazy! Horrah!

Photos of the apartment

While John is sorting out his weights and moving heavy things, I figured I'd throw up the pictures I took this morning of the apartment, they're on Facebook, but for people who don't have facebook or don't want to scroll through my dozens of pictures of cake I'll put them here. (You're welcome Mom!)

This is our Street, I think it looks like Veronaville from The Sims 2, which pleases me greatly! Apparently it looks much better when the trees are not bare, but I have yet to witness this.

You can click on the picture, Mom, for a bigger one.

This is a picture of our living room, the side where the door is. The couch and chair are going, we're just waiting for our sofas to get here, which hopefully will be in a few weeks.

This is the wall with the nook where we have stored our only bookshelf, the TV and computer table are going as well as the wickedly hideous chair.

Our table and TV, the other side of the room, across from the multi coloured couch. The table pulls out on both sides to seat more people, but we have no space for it.

The windows that I adore, leading out to my balcony that lets me laugh at the people below using their hands to brush off their half a centimetre of snow. Wimps!

Hallway and our front door. Look at the magical way we have to dry our socks!

First door leads to the bathtub area with the sink, second leads to the magical closet with a toilet in it.

Spare room, with our rack for drying clothes. (This is why I have to iron :(

the wardrobe where all my clothes are, in the spare room, because John has more clothes than anyone I know. It's insane.

Shower/sink/Stuffs

Magical Toilet area.

I made a collage of Pictures on the back of the toilet door, because I'm an odd person.

Kitchen, with the sink and the wood counters that I now hate because they're growing mold :(

My stove that doesn't work, the burners do, but the stove does not. Please note the pretty towels!

My super awesome cupcake calendar.

Our room, the wall on the left that you can't see is all closet/wardrobe things.

So that's our place, its a bit messy at the moment, but we figure in a month or so we'll have it all sorted and looking nice. (We hope.) So thus concludes this entry and I'll post again tomorrow or the next day. I have a pot of coffee with my name on it. Toodles!

Day Two

After a long day one, where we went to bed at 4 in the afternoon and woke up at midnight, puttered around for a few hours before passing out for another six, we were mildly productive. After a breakfast of slightly burnt toast and disgusting instant coffee, John made me walk 8 miles (Slight exaggeration, probably.) to go into a magical store that had tons of things. It was a bit like a mini target with no clothes or food.

Got ourselves some measuring cups, some kitchen things, a power converter so my Mixer could be plugged in. Air freshner, garbage can, and a clock. Because I have no cell phone and thus no concept of time. We still need to get an alarm clock for the bedroom, because again, no concept of time.

Went around to his Parent's house for dinner, which involved more walking. And while I was content to sit on their couch watching tv all night to avoid walking back, the slave driver of a husband I have, made me.
Its times like that, where there is frost on the cars and I'm walking, that I long for my car- and its only been 2 days! Wont be long until I'm demanding to drive, I'm guessing.

Long day ahead of us, grocery shopping and some cleaning. Then at four his Mom is coming around to take us to Ikea where hopefully I will find some cheap furniture that can and will be delivered. Fingers crossed on that one.

My biggest problem at the moment, other than the walking everywhere, the jet lag or the fact that I'm missing Bones is that they have instant coffee. And John, the dear, bought a massive container of it. And I said "No new coffee maker until its all gone" so now I'm drinking this coffee that tastes like nothing delicious and it's making Jen sad faced.

And with this folks, I should probably put a few more tings away. Clothes are unpacked, books shelved bt ings like purses need a hiding spot as well as all my little knick knacks. So Until later, I miss you, America.
